Bullyboy tactics ruin Psychic news. The Arthur Findlay College under the umbrella of The SNU who owned the Paper Psychic News has destroyed its mouthpiece in an historic move this month. At an AGM, the decision was taken to close down the paper, which had been running since 1932 started by Maurice Barbanell the medium for Silver Birch whom you should undoubtedly know. These bullyboy tactics are followed by a gagging order from the SNU on the paper and in particular Susan Farrow as to the real reasons why it has been closed down. This can only lead to speculation and will I suspect, see moves at one time or another to search for the truth. Isn't that an ironic statement when you think of how spirit has fought valiantly against the truth being withheld? The final edition has many pieces by present and past editors and regular subscribers to it including mediums. It has unquestionably suffered as not only other papers have done in this current climate however; there appear to have been a multitude of offers to keep it going. This newer team had struggled against its masters in an effort to remain independent and this was not apparently appreciated. I can only hope and trust that one of those many offers is taken up by the team and another independent paper started up. God knows we need it. Then the first riotous edition may hopefully forward the truth of the SNU's decision and the apparent awkward timing of criticism of the College's disgraceful statements as to "no such thing as evil" and "no protections is needed." And other strange decisions. It appears that the college and SNU has become unwieldy and overestimates its importance in the marketplace had appears it thinks it has a "God given right" to do what it wants irrespective of the directions that Spirit has for so long indicated it wants to go. God preserve us from EGO In another article I have written: I was having a conversation with a friend recently and the subject of medium training came up. The thing is that the Arthur Findlay College as well as not screening students as to suitability, which I find extremely dangerous even home circles screen, also teach the platform mediums the "I have a person with the name John here, surname Smith, and I am somewhere over here" style of school. I firmly believe that as a medium you should know exactly where you are going, of course there are occasions when it is unclear but as a general rule you should know where you are. What do you think of this style of training? Reply to: info.leo-bonomo.com As the AFC appear and claim to be (The world's Foremost College for the advancement of Spiritualism and Psychic sciences) and teach a very great many of today's mediums, as a result I feel that they should perhaps be asked questions for what everyone acknowledges as "a distinct drop in standards" over the last few years and I for one would be interested to hear their explanation. As you probably know, I wrote about the ridiculous "AFC statements" which was taken up by the now defunct PN and it had great support from others both in the paper and off it. AFC tutors made wild statements about no one needing any protection at all; this included children, because there was no evil and nothing whatever could attach itself to you! Basically encouraging the quite recent advertisement of pink Ouija boards for girls of the age of eight, quite disgusting in my, and many others view. Two tutors, Mavis Pattila and Simone key (I suspect that many are of the same ilk) stated categorically that if anything of that form existed they "would not be within a hundred miles of spiritualism" I did imagine a mass walkout of tutors in that case (hic) as it has been extensively proved that problems do occur. Is it a coincidence that following badly thought out arguments by the SNU who owned the paper and their absolutely incensed reaction at criticism of a very badly thought out policy that could not only cause desperate unhappiness for those who then also believed they needed no protection, but in being taught to my mind, incorrectly, that the flaws as seen by many were part of the final straw. Why should an open, honest organisation (as you would want and think it to be) want to so publicly destroy its mouthpiece because egos have taken umbrage at incoherent, ill thought out and decidedly dangerous strategies? I think that this should be thoroughly investigated. Susan Farrow the editor has been subject to censorship. Is this not what happened from governments, scientists etc who decried spiritualism? Isn't this what we as spiritualists have fought against the whole time? Why then should the guiding light, which is what the AFC/SNU not only aspire to be but claim as such, want to follow the very same road because it does not like what it hears? It appears to me that this is the very worst of spiritualism, Do as I tell you, not as I do. This is the very worst bullying of its kind and that from an organisation that claims to be Spiritual. Nothing it appears can be further from the truth. Should it be incorrect then they have the chance to put this right. I would urge Susan Farrow to come clean with PN's readers for the withholding of such important information will lie heavily and have to be repaid once in Spirit herself. We should all do the right thing. There is only one truth and this is a place of burden, tests we personally have to face. Leo |
