This is an excerpt from a book on development that I am currently writing.

What you should know about mediumship, mediums and your gift.

Differences between mediums, clairvoyants and psychics.

Mediums and Clairvoyants.

Essentially, they are the same thing, being clairvoyant expands the field a little in terms of how you work. A medium is someone with the ability to sense spirit and to communicate with them. Communication comes in all sorts of forms some are "clairvoyant" which means clear seeing basically seeing either spirit directly or at different levels whether this is people themselves or mind pictures given by the communicator in spirit.

There is clairaudience, which means clear hearing so that is sounds in different forms, music, voices etc. Clairsentience means clear feelings and works with all kinds of impressions of how something feels. Clairgustance works with a sense of taste, I often get this for sweets, cooking sometimes when I need a perk up I get a taste of brandy in my mouth and one you probably know but don't know the word for is Clairessence or Clairolfacrience which is the sense of smells like , perfume, cigars etc.

A medium may have all or just one of these gifts and they can be developed to extraordinary levels of finesse. Most mediums are psychic, many psychics are not mediums.

Developing your gift.

A good teacher will bring out your individual gifts and help you to develop the individual way you work with your guides.

You have a particular understanding of many things that are put to you, the quote "A picture says a thousand words" is particularly apt here. From a single picture flashed into your mind are so many words, stories and feelings that are or can be associated with it. The most important things are what you notice, which order they are in, how you feel about each part in context with each other, whether specific things have been brought to your attention, for example someone cooking, the smell of fresh bread, or perhaps jam.

The art of developing someone is establishing what their gift is, what level they are at, giving confidence in what they are experiencing and establishing their own personal code.

This means establishing is what certain things mean to them personally association wise. Getting them to understand their guides own personal code, what their guide associates with certain things and coordinating these personal codes so that when pictures and feelings, smells etc are given through the guide, the communicator, someone's loved one, they will be in an immediately recognisable format so that communication is effective.

Once you can understand the myriad of things that even the same symbol can reflect you can give readings that are more accurate. For example, a communicator may come and show you the colour red. Is this anger? Love? Perhaps part or all of a flag? Was this a "brain picture" a flash of the moment that person passed perhaps having an aneurism? Was it their favourite colour? A colour they hated? A piece of clothing perhaps at a memorable event? The colour of their house door or car? Was it showing that the person they are communicating to, your recipient, needs healing or is a healer? Perhaps they are showing that the person has a lot of energy? Perhaps you have just seen a part of their aura?

As you can see in just one simple millisecond image, something can portray so many things and this is just from the Spirit communicators side without your own interpretation of it. Sometimes readings can be vague. Not only do we all have off days but we have this to contend with. Add to that the fact that the communicator may have had memory problems, Alzheimer's or the line of communication is fragile it is a constant wonder to me that it works at all.

This ambiguity of course leaves us open to the sceptic who's cry forever is "it can mean anything, it is not specific etc."  Sceptics make me laugh. They cling to something, anything that may or in some cases may not have even the feeblest tangible explanation. You can see their minds working, scrambling for any excuse and self satisfyingly imply "well get out of that then" if they gave half the energy to properly investigating the subject rather than rely on the old fallback position of "well, the wind could have blown it open!" or some such remark they would have far more credibility.

That outlines what we as teachers and students have to begin with. It takes time and effort to hone the skills you have but when it is done a few milliseconds of information can give you enough information for a good half hour reading. Understanding it and controlling the flow are key to using the gift most of us can develop.

The Spirit mind works much quicker than ours does. We have to get used to it but in a way that is useful to us, it is no good getting tons of information that is passing us by or is forgotten a minute from now. Again we have to regulate what and how the information comes through. Developing is a two way learning process. Your guide is also doing their part to find out how you will work together, what they can do to help. They will not know everything and may need to find information or ask how do something better. They are learning too. They have to slow down to properly communicate and we have to speed up. Gradually removing or having removed blockages that were necessary at one point but have no use now. In fact the experience of removal can be an extraordinary one in itself.

One student described that a communicator stands on her right at right angle. Her guide stands at her right just behind her shoulder. Aunts normally stand in front cousins at say 1 o'clock etc etc, etc. For her this works. Immediately a Spirit stands at a specific point she understands where this person can be placed in the family. There is no need to question "how are you related, etc." the answer is clearly in the position taken at that time. Imagining standing on a clock face and dividing it into the 60 minutes with every position having a very clear piece of information associated with it. In that split second you know so much about the person and you can concentrate on describing them (if you can see them). How much time is saved by this method? Can you understand why developing your own code is so important? This is why I firmly believe that a good teacher brings out the gifts already there and does not install a "mini me" with the student.

I have seen good mediums, well-known ones whose students adopt not only the same format, name, date, description, da de da de da, but also the same mannerisms. Whilst they certainly have a gift, I think it is a shame. We are all individuals and we should be allowed to be.
If you would like to experience what a circle is like, very friendly I can tell you, and to see if you have a gift yourself or just interested as to how Mediums are trained, why not pop along to our open circle?

It cost's just three pounds and if you have never been, it will be one of the most interesting and unforgettable experiences of this life!

Circle is at Woodford church,Grove Road, South Woodford, London, on Friday nights 7.30 start, do get there a few mins early! If you're late we cannot let you in! It costs just £3
I don't usually blow my on trumpet but I feel that this is such a nice compliment and show to a small extent the standard I have reached in conjunction with my guides.

Whenever I teach, I channel. Nothing is usually set (apart from when guides say "psychometry next week" It is all inspired and appropriate for those who attend
"Hi Leo. Before I put my question to you. I would like to say after your enforced absence a couple of weeks ago, after a lifetime in education, I Certainly know how good a teacher you are. And say thank you."
